"Goin West"

These six Volumes [plus others which I cannot find] were researched and self-published by Richard & Alice Nelson [Hemet CA] in the 1980's. They are copyrighted, so when you find potential family, please use the data for your own personal research & note the names of the Authors.

I have scanned them and created fully searchable pdf files for each one. Additionally, I have scanned the reference, as Richard and Alice created one for each Volume of the gleanings.

Most of the published books they used in their research are very much out of copyright and if you are interested in them, you may be able to find those on the California Biography Project Site.

There is a lot of information here, but in some cases it is sparse, hopefully you will find clues to your Family's Journey to the West.

The Index below was created from Gleanings taken from "The Searcher" - The Quarterly Publication of the Southern California Genealogical Society. In the 1980's the Society undertook a "Heritage Project", the resulting data was printed in various editions. I scanned the pages that were duplicates in the San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society Library and have uploaded them for you to research.  The files can be found in this Directory.
